Bobo

Bobo; Walter's partner in the liquor store.

Bobo seems to me as very shy, but outspoken.  He not all there mentally, but is a good friend to Walter.

The actor I choose to play Bobo is Nelsan Ellis.

Nelsan Ellis

Nelsan is a great, very versatile actor. I love him in True Blood. He's so amazing and very convincing.  He's perfect for this role. Absolute perfection.

George Murchison

George Murchison; the rich man that likes Bennie.

George seems very manly, aggressive, and demanding. He seems so much into himself, and clearly isn't everyone's favorite.  Although we can deny that he is also gorgeous.  He just a man that knows what he wants...and that's Bennie. You can tell he wants a more modern life when he tells Bennie he wants a trophy wife. What a guy....

The actor I choose to play George Murchison is Michael Ealy.

Michael is a super actor. He is very subtle, but very handsome.  Which I think is a great play on his character.  Although he is handsome, he is also a total scumbag.  Looks can be deceiving. This is why he is the first pick of mine for this role.

Joseph Asagai

Joseph Asagai; the Nigerian student that is in love with Bennie

Physically Joseph seems to very as the classic tall, dark and handsome.  Even in the play it states how handsome he is. He strikes me as very cultural and down to Earth.

The actor I chose for Joseph is Sean Patrick Thomas.

Sean Patrick Thomas

Sean is perfect for the part of Joseph. Sean has a very out going screen personality. He's great at being that arrogant, yet charming guy. He's always in parts that he gets to be in charge and aggressive, just like in Barbershop, and Save the Last Dance. He would own this part like like it was meant specifically for him.

Travis Younger

Travis Younger; the son of Ruth and Walter Younger

I see Travis as the innocence of the play.  He's just a child. I see him a just a little bot caught up in the mist of everyone's drama. He looks up to his father who doesn't set the best example for him.  I see him with braids, little and slim, just like his father.

The actor I choose to portray Travis is Jaden Smith.

Jaden Smith

Jaden has a great background in films. Who could forget his part in War of the Worlds? Such great, and emotional charisma.  He was excellent as the son in The Karate Kid  that released in 2010. He has so much potential for this role.  He would put awesome input into the part in the beginning where Travis asks for 50 cents for school, and his parents didn't have it. He would be the best.

Ruth Younger

Ruth Younger; the wife of Walter, and mother of Travis.

Ruth is a great wife and mother.  She is married to Walter, who clearly isn't the best of a husband and father. She has to deal with all the consequences of her husband.  All of his actions affect the family a lot. She also has to deal with him being totally disrespectful to her. It's a hard life for her, but she is also a great mother.

The actress I picked to portray Ruth, is Taraji P. Henson.

Taraji P. Henson

Taraji P. Henson is an awesome actress.  She has contributed to many movies.  She was amazing in I Can Do Bad All By Myself, and The Karate Kid. Her roles are so different, she is capable of any role, and this one is perfect. I think that she will give this character so much definition and adapt to her lifestyle immediately.

Lena Younger ("Mama")

Lena Younger ("Mama"); the mother, the head of the Younger household.

Mama is the head of the household. Physically I see her as a a very strong individual. Strength that you can see on her face. I see her standing maybe at 5'4, 154lbs. Her sense of style comes from old fashion, very classic taste, as per the style in her living room.  The sofa that was once very high fashion, but was worn out from the usual wear and tear. She's very classic, and very conservative.

I have chosen Alfre Woodward to play the character of Lena Younger.

Alfre Woodward
Alfre Woodward is the perfect actress to play Mama. She has a very warm, motherly appearance. She's one of the top African American actress' of our time. She made so many memorable films.  For the role of Mama, she would take this character to another level.  I portray her as Camille Wright in Love and Basketball, very forward, straight to the point personality. She was  a strong woman that knew what she wanted. This co insides with Mama's part in the play when she knew she wanted a house for her family, no matter what. Perfect relations, makes her the perfect actress for this part.

Beneatha Young ("Bennie")

Beneatha Young ("Bennie"); young, immature, daughter and sister...full of life and youth.

Bennie is the daughter of Mama, and the sister of Walter.  She seems very fresh, young, in her early twenties. Physically, I see her standing 5'6, also very slim like her brother. I see her style as being very young and free.  Her easy going spirit and flow makes her very unique.

The actress I choose for Bennie is Zoe Saldana. She is a stunning actress, very versatile. Although she is currently in early thirties, she has a very youthful look about her.

Zoe Saldana

Bennie's character is a young college student. She is interested in everything! She's learning a lot in school, and voices her opinion on everything.  She's very outspoken, but also very reserved at times. Zoe will portray her beautifully.  She is a very serious actress, as she was in her role in Avatar, playing Neytiri.  In the specific role, I wanted her to be portrayed as  very young, free spirited gal, sort of like her role in Crossroads, as Kit.  Zoe would bring a lot to the characteristics of the other family members. Also, the conversations with George and Joseph will be a little more sassy.
